Glorieta Pines combines insightful songwriting with haunting harmonies and arrangements to achieve their unique blend of acoustic music. The duo of Brian Nelson (guitar) and Lindsay Taylor (mandolin, fiddle) is inspired by the world as it unfolds around them in their Northern New Mexico home of Glorieta.
Dwelling within the songs of Glorieta Pines are the rich history and mysticism of the American Southwest juxtaposed with the current state of the world. A journey through the old and new via traditional and original folk songs, their performance features tales of grit and messages of hope on The Road Ahead.
Growing up on the East Coast as a daughter of a folk musician, Lindsay Taylor’s childhood home was always brimming with music and jams. Meanwhile in the American Southwest, Brian Nelson grew up connected to the region’s desert landscapes, an environment frequently echoed in his songwriting. When the two met working for a folk music school in Denver, Colorado, a musical partnership was formed that allowed Nelson’s songs to blossom with broader instrumentations and a deeper acoustic sound provided by Taylor’s fiddle and mandolin work, and raw vocal harmonies.
